The Process:

The process of bringing a new product into the world varies. Sometimes it begins with a clear need—identified through our own analysis or through conversations with partners. Other times, a designer will bring us something unexpected. From there, it becomes a conversation.

We work closely with designers who share our outlook. To us, a designer isn’t just an artist—they’re a problem-solver. A new piece has to meet practical requirements: it must be comfortable, durable, easy to use. It must also make sense within our collection and reflect the broader needs of our partners and customers.

The development process is collaborative. There’s usually a back-and-forth—between designer, brand, and production—where a piece will shift and adapt through several iterations. Challenges come up; they always do. But when handled well, they often lead to something better than the original idea. That, too, is part of design.
